Stan the ram

On Monday 9th March our lease ram lamb arrived. He came from the Strickland Wiltshires and had been in the drought so he spent 1 day short of 3 weeks enjoying our green grass and managed to gain 7kg before he was introduced to the ewes on the 29th March.

Stan was named by my husband. Wahooo Black Betty, Stan the ram. Helps if you play the song and sing along. Lol

He's a good boy and was happy to hang out with Pepper in the front paddock before finally meeting some of his prospective partners.

Stan's Mum was a Strickland Wiltshire and his Dad was a Muriwai Valley polled Wiltshire. So he brings in some new blood lines also.

On the afternoon of the 29th March Parsley cycled and he mated his first ewe. Very exciting.

All going well lambs will be due on the 23rd August 2020. Hopefully just twins this year for Parsley.

On the 3rd April Stan mated Saffy 6 times in the yards.

Saffy is due on the 28th August.

Next was Flopsie on the 13th April, lots of matings witnessed between those two.

Flopsie is due on the 7th September.

Chives was mated properly by Stan on the 3rd May but I only got video of them mating. So here is a photo of them together.

Chives is due 27th September.

Then Stan mated Chicory (over 4 hours) and Clove (over 3 hours) on the 25/26th and 28th May.

The lambs will be due 19th and 22nd October.

We are so pleased they will be lambing close together.

Stan goes home on the 6th June :-) A huge thank you to the Stricklands.
