Our New Ram

On the 30th December 2020 we went and selected a ram lamb to purchase from McMillan Wiltshires.

Introducing 'Jasper'

Jasper is the first ram we have owned. Previous years we have leased a ram from Strickland Wiltshires.

But it was time to add new genetics & the opportunity arose. Jaspers name isn't in theme with our herbs/spice/plant names but it has a special story behind it. Jasper is FE resistant and his sire is from Arvidson Wiltshires the top SIL recorded flock in NZ. There were many lambs to select from but it came down to who had the best hooves that would work well with our wet Manawatu winters. He is fully shed and weighed 42kg.

There is is above in the background with Sesame a ewe we got from McMillan Wiltshires. He is very handsome and seems happy here.

Jasper is currently living with Parsley, who is teaching him respect. On the 7th March he will be joined with the rest of the adult ewes and I am really excited to see his lambs in August.
